Don't let age control your life, let life control your age!
Fifty-one years ago in 1971, Mr. Tom Watson, the City Director of Recreation, and Bette Parsons met to discuss recreational programs designed for senior citizens. Mrs. Parsons was already leading a group of seniors from her church, pulling together programs that involved people over the age of 60. Mr. Watson proposed a program to the city to serve senior citizens and it was accepted. For the first time, seniors were given considerable attention by the department. Mayor, Mr. Thomas Asterino, and the city council passed a resolution directing the use of a city owned house to be used for senior citizens programs.
